Odious statements of the Ukrainian side concerning Donbass fuels the region's rejection and misunderstanding, the DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova said.
On June 6, the head of Kiev's delegation to the Minsk talks Leonid Kravchuk said in an interview with 5 Channel that Donbass is Ukraine's "cancer tumor" that must be removed to allow "development of an independent state".
"Kravchuk's words reflect the true Ukrainian attitude towards Donbass and its residents," Nikonorova said.
"Probably, Kravchuk understands that such outrageous statements such as comparing Donbass to cancer just reinforce Republics' people rejection and total misunderstanding."
Kravchuk also emphasized the need for a "delicate wording" of a referendum on Donbass fate, allegedly not to insult Russian-speaking population. The diplomat said that Ukraine need the population of region and must change the language policy to reintegrate it.
"Kravchuk's "concern" about the wording is a monstrously illustrative example of double standards and horrendous hypocrisy on Kiev's side," Nikonorova said.
She advised Kravchuk to read the Minsk Agreements once again and focus on the basis for a dialog with the Republics. Only such a settlement would show Kiev's commitment to the peace plan, Nikonorova said.*ot
