Donetsk, Mar 15 - DAN. DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko’s initiative to announce the “Easter ceasefire” in Donbass in the runup to Easter should make groundwork for fulfilling other provisions of the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, the Republic’s acting Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova said on Thursday.
“I’m sure that the “Easter ceasefire” proposed by the DPR Head will promote stability in the region and make groundwork for implementing other Package of Measures provisions, including political ones,” Nikonorova said in comments received by the Donetsk News Agency.
The diplomat urged all participants in the negotiations to support Zakharchenko’s initiative and actively contribute to putting it into practice.
On Wednesday, DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko suggested announcing the “Easter ceasefire” in Donbass starting April 1 in the runup to Easter and ordered DPR envoy to the Minsk talks Denis Pushilin to discuss its basic terms at a video conference next week. In this connection, Pushilin asked OSCE Special Monitoring Mission representatives to help arrange the video conference.*jk
