Donetsk, Dec 6 – DAN. The Minsk Agreements have been endorsed and approved by the international community and their "modernization" is out of question, said DPR representative at the security subgroup of the Contact Group Alexey Nikonorov.

Earlier Ukrainian representative at the Minsk talks Alexey Reznikov said that the Minsk Agreements should be updated following the Normandy Four summit. He also suggested that the fifth working group should be established within the Contact Group to deal with the border control issues.

"If the documents uncomfortable for Kiev are rewritten and amended every time they want it the process will be endless. It shall stall the talks and in the end prompt another armed escalation. No modernization is possible to make things more comfortable for Kiev as the Minsk Agreements have been endorsed and approved by the international community," Nikonorov said.

"The state border subgroup initiative is surprising," he said pointing out to the fact that previous Ukrainian government pursued the same idea.

The Minsk Agreements are the basis for the Donbass crisis peace settlement. The Package of Measures to implement the Minsk Agreements stipulates withdrawal od arms from the line of contact, establishment of demilitarized zones, discussion on the modalities of the renewal of social benefits payments to DPR and LPR residents, as well as a large scale decentralization reform in Ukraine. Providing Donbass with a special status is also one of the key articles. *ot
