Donetsk, Jan 11 – DAN. Ukraine should not waste time on statements concerning modernization of the Minsk Agreements, but should work systematically on their implementation, said DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.
Ukrainian Minister on Donbass Reintegration Alexey Reznikov said on Saturday, January 9, in an article for the Atlantic Council, that “the current agreements expired on December 31, 2015”, “updating these agreements is a necessary precondition for any further progress”, while the peace process must be discussed with the USA, Great Britain and Canada.
“Ukrainian representatives enter the new year with the same old statements on the alleged impossibility to fulfill the Minsk Agreements as they are,” Nikonorova said.
She said they “read the agreements inattentively as these are not the Minsk Agreements that expired five years ago, but the period in which Kiev obliged to carry out the constitutional reform resulting in a deep decentralization of the country”.
“We once again draw the attention of Kiev’s representatives to the fact that it is useless to call for signing of new peace agreements or amendments to the existing ones just because they don’t like certain articles of the Package of Measures,” Nikonorova said.
