Donetsk, Mar 16 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Special Commission on recording and gathering evidence of Ukrainian authorities’ war crimes in Donbass has filed nearly 20,000 cases since May 2016, DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova said as she presented the Ministry’s progress report 2020 at the parliament session on Tuesday.

“The Special Commission on recording and gathering evidence of Ukrainian authorities’ war crimes in Donbass has been operating for the fifth year,” Nikonorova said. “It has added 19,976 entries into its database over this time.”

She said that 795 cases had been filed over civilians’ deaths, 1,587 over the wounding of civilians, 83 and 168 cases, respectively, over children’s deaths and their suffering wounds, 62 over illegal holding of civilians and 17,263 over damage or destruction of property as a result of fighting.

The Special Commission was established in May 2016. It documents crimes against humanity and Kiev’s war crimes in the DPR territory. The Republic intends to present the information to international judicial bodies. The Commission is led by DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.*jk*pp
