Donetsk, Sep 7 — DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Special Commission on gathering evidence of Ukrainian government crimes in Donbass has filed more than 35,000 cases since May 2016, DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova said at a press briefing at the Donetsk News Agency on Wednesday.

“The Unified Register currently comprises 35,000 pieces of evidence in the main categories such as killed civilians (1,135 entries), wounded civilians (4,342), killed children (127), wounded children (483), captured or illegally held citizens (86), ruined homes and infrastructure facilities (28,987), ” Nikonorova said in a summary of the Commission’s work.

The six years of the Commission’s efforts show the huge scope of work to document Ukrainian war crimes, and the current intensity of Kiev strikes calls for stepping up the efforts to record the facts of war crimes and involve experts in the process, she added.

“To this end, the DPR leadership decided on restructuring the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination, renewing its functions and handing over the Special Commission’s database for further development and administering. Together, we’ll be make all efforts towards careful recording of the aftermath of Ukrainian aggression and punishing all culprits, as well as towards communicating the truth to as many people as possible across the world about the crimes committed by the Kiev neo-Nazi regime, ” the DPR foreign minister said.

On Wednesday, DPR Head Denis Pushilin dissolved the Special Commission on Ukrainian army crimes and ordered it to hand over the documents to the JCCC.

The Special Commission on recording and gathering evidence of Ukrainian authorities’ crimes in Donbass was set up in May 2016. It documented Kiev’s crimes against humanity and war crimes in the DPR territory. The Republic intends to present the information to international judicial bodies. The Commission was chaired by DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.

In 2017, the DPR set up its Office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination on ceasefire and negotiations. This body recorded truce violations in Donbass and participated in the peace talks at the Minsk venue. As the talks stopped, the body was remained in late August 2022 to the DPR Office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes.*jk
