Donetsk, Apr 28 – DAN. The Contact Group has failed to achieve progress on employing the coordination mechanism to verify ceasefire violations, DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova said in a statement.

The DPR Mission to the JCCC said earlier that draft amendments to the current Package of Measures to Reinforce the Ceasefire has been endorsed in the first reading.

"The mediators represented by the Russian Federation proposed today to endorse at the Contact Group level a statement on employing the mechanism of verification and prevention of ceasefire violations, provided for by the Package of Measures and blicked by Ukraine since autumn 2020, effective the next day," Nikonorova said.

The DPR and LPR proposed seven different variants of the text, but Kiev rejected all of them.

"Everything possible was done to ensure that the sides responsible for ceasefire are as vague as possible," she said.

The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire were signed at the Contact Group meeting on July 22 to reinforce and control the indefinite ceasefire in effect since July 21, 2019, the latest in the series of more than 20 reconfirmation and announcements of the “silence regime”. The package came into effect on July 27. *ot
