Donetsk, Jun 9 — DAN. The construction of a new water duct from the Olkhovskoye and Khanzhenkovskoye reservoirs for filling the Seversky Donets — Donbass canal will be finished by the end of the summer, Donetsk People’s Republic Construction and Housing and Utilities Ministry told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“As for the construction of the water line to fill the Seversky-Donets — Donbass canal, it will be built by the end of the summer. Some works will be completed by July and the rest in August, ” the Ministry said.

The water line is being built by specialists of the Russian Defense Ministry’s Military Construction Complex.

Earlier reports said that the project comprised two stages.  A 21-kilometer water line to the Khanzhenkovsky reservoir will be built at the first stage. The second stage envisions the construction of a four-kilometer link between the Olkhovskoye and Khanzenkovskoye reservoirs.

The DPR began to experience water supply problems in February when its water supply facilities came under Kiev forces fire. Water supply to settlements was fully stopped or reduced and scheduled.

In late March, the DPR announced plans to build supply lines from alternative sources. Later on, more than a hundred specialists from Moscow arrived in the Republic to help resolve its water supply problems.*jk
