Donetsk, Oct 27 — DAN. The fire caused by a Ukrainian artillery attack at the town of Shakhtyorsk in the east of the Donetsk People’s Republic has been fully extinguished.
Eye-witnesses told Donetsk News Agency correspondents that several explosions had rocked the town at around 21:30 on Wednesday starting a large fire In the Postnikovo railway station area. Several-dozen-meters-high flames were seen from all parts of the towns. DPR rescue teams immediately rushed to the scene.
Reports said that an impact of an ammunition round set 12 rail tank cars on fire which later engulfed the railway station building.
The fire was contained at 00:48 and fully extinguished at 02:10, the DPR Emergencies Ministry said. It damaged 24 rail tank cars with fuel and lubricants, a boiler house, and service area on the third floor of the office building. A total of 676 square meters of space were damaged. Rescuers prevented the fire from spreading to another 42 rail tank cars.*jk
