Donetsk, Mar 24 — DAN. At least five homes have been damaged in a Ukrainian artillery attack on Donetsk’s Kievsky district; several direct hits have been recorded.
The strike targeted the single-family neighborhood located between Sobinov and Molodykh Shakhtyorov Streets. The shelling started a fire in one of the five damaged homes.
Rescuers had extinguished the fire by the time DAN journalists arrived. Russian Investigative Committee officers who were at the scene said that the attack had been launched from a RM-70 Vampire multiple launch rocket system as was proven by shell fragments found at the scene. RM-70 is a Czech-made MLRS which is largely a copy of the Soviet-made “Grad” MLRS. The Czech Republic handed over these systems to Kiev as part of military aid in 2022.
The Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes reported that the strike was delivered at 9:45. The enemy fired ten projectiles at the Kievsky district from the Kiev-controlled Lastochkino settlement.*jk
