Donetsk, Feb 28 — DAN. Two cafes and eleven houses have been damaged by Ukrainian artillery fire at Svetlodarsk on Tuesday; no civilian casualties have been reported, the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes (JCCC) told the Donetsk News Agency.

“The enemy delivered the strike at around 07:40 firing 15 155mm (NATO standard) projectiles. Two cafes and eleven apartment buildings and single family homes were damaged, ” the JCCC said. “There have been no reports on casualties.”

Svetlodarsk is located 18 kilometers north of Debaltsevo. It was founded in 1968. The town accommodates the Uglegorskaya thermal power plant, one of the largest in Europe. On April 29, 2014, a rally in the town adopted a resolution in support of the Donetsk People’s Republic independence referendum. However, the Ukrainian army occupied the town and its neighboring settlement of Mironovsky in the summer of 2014. The settlements were liberated from Ukrainian armed formations in late May 2022. Svetlodarsk was included in the responsibility area of Debaltsevo.

Earlier reports on Tuesday said that Kiev’s artillery attack on Gorlovka had caused massive damage to its infrastructure.*jk
