Donetsk, Mar 27 — DAN. Apartment buildings and social infrastructure facilities have been damaged in a Ukrainian artillery strike at Donetsk’s Kalininsky district. Local residents told Donetsk News Agency correspondents that they had heard at least three explosions.

The place that came under artillery fire is located in the Druzhba sport center area between Krasnoflotskaya Street and Ilyich Avenue.  One of the buildings caught fire. A firefighting operation was promptly launched, and by the time the DAN correspondents arrived only smoke without flames was seen. Ambulances also arrived at the scene.

 At least six apartment buildings sustained damage.  Tenants are already boarding up windows and cleaning up glass fragments by the entrances to the buildings. Local resident Alexander told DAN that he was at home when three powerful blasts ripped through the district. “I heard three powerful explosions which rattled everything.They (Ukrainian troops — eds DAN) won’t quiet down. It might have been HIMARS, ” he said.

The strike was delivered from the Kiev-controlled Krasnoarmeisk at 11:00, said the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes.  Donetsk mayor Alexey Kulemzin said that windows of school No 95 and kindergarten No 129 had been damaged in the attack. Preliminary reports said that there had been civilian casualties.*jk
