Donetsk, Jun 1 — DAN. Ukrainian armed formations have shelled the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka on Thursday wounding a child, town mayor Ivan Prikhodko said.

“A ten-year-old child has been wounded in Ukrainian Nazis’ strike at Gorlovka’s Nikitovsky district, ” Prikhodko said in a post on Telegram.

Ukrainian army units have fired more than 70 rounds of ammunition from missile and cannon artillery pieces at the town since Thursday morning, said the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes (JCCC).

Damage has been caused to a school, a sport center, a bus, a car maintenance facility, several vehicles, two apartment buildings and five single-family homes, the JCCC said adding that gas pipes and power lines in the town had been damaged as well.

International Day for Protection of Children is marked annually on June 1. It was established during the Congress of the Women’s International Democratic Federation in Paris in November 1949.*jk
