Donetsk, Dec 1 — DAN. Gas supply has been stopped to Ilovaisk due to the pipeline accident caused by a Ukrainian missile strike, town mayor Ruslan Dudnikov told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
At 2:15, the Kiev army fired two high mobility artillery rocket system (HIMARS) missiles at Ilovaisk. The strike was delivered from the Ukrainian-occupied Memrik, said the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes.
“Gas utility workers found a leak on the trunk pipeline outside Ilovaisk. They’ve just found it and are working at the scene. They are now switching to a backup line. If they make it, they’ll try to supply gas to the town, ” Dudnikov said.
The gas pipe was damaged by an artillery attack, and the whole town is now without gas supply, he added.
Three boiler houses have stopped operation while another three that use solid fuel continue to heat homes. Preliminary reports said that several transformers and overhead wiring had been damaged as well. Repairs are underway. Gas supply to the town is expected to resume by Thursday evening.
Earlier reports said that Ukrainian armed formations had shelled Amvrosiyevka overnight to November 30 damaging the railway station building, a gas pipe and a power line. Amrosiyevka is on the passenger train route to the Rostov region.*jk
