Donetsk, Jan 13 - DAN. The South Mining and Metals Complex (YuGMK) will add nine Russian-made locomotives to its equipment stock, while the existing ones will be overhauled for the first time since 2016, the company's press service told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.

“Yenakiyevo Metallurgical Plant and Yasinovataya Coking Plant representatives left for Russia on December 30 for acceptance of TEM-2 and TGM4 locomotives,” the press service said. “YuGMK plans to purchase seven more such locomotives in 2022.”

It will launch projects this year to restore all fleets of locomotives run by YuGMK enterprises. The locomotive models earmarked for overhaul include TEM2, TGM4 and TGM6. Major components of diesel engines, hydraulic drives and wheel pairs will be overhauled as well.

“The YuGMK branches’ fleets of locomotives will be restored to maximum efficiency by yearend,” the company said adding that major repairs on locomotives had not been performed since 2016.

YuGMK is a company owned by Russian businessman Yevgeny Yurchenko. It currently comprises eight branches: Yenakiyevo Metallurgical Plant, Makeyevka Coking Plant, Yasinovataya Coking Plant and Komsomolskoye Mining Department in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Alchevsk Metallurgical Works, Lugansk Casting and Mechanical Plant and Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant in the Lugansk People’s Republic. *jk
