Donetsk, Sep 30 - DAN. A fan and a pump house were damaged as the Zasyadko colliery came under Ukrainian army fire on Thursday morning, the press service of the Donetsk People’s Republic Fuel and Energy Ministry reported.

The colliery premises came under fire at 08:20 and 08:50, the press service said. The strike severed the main fan power cable and personnel quickly switched to a reserve power plant.  All pump house windows were smashed, the roof was punctured and equipment was damaged in the shelling.

“No works were in progress in that section of the mine at the time; there were no people in rock tunnels. Specialists are now clearing the debris in the effort to recover from Kiev aggression,” it added.

It is the third strike at the Zasyadko coal mine this month. Ukrainian forces shelled it on September 8 and 9.

Commissioned in 1958, Zasyadko is one of the largest coal mines in the region. It is located in the Donetsk’s frontline Kiyevsky district and repeatedly comes under Ukrainian forces fire. *jk
