Donetsk, Aug 28 - DAN. Donetsk Electrical Engineering Plant specialists have launched the assembly of new intercity buses, enterprise director Alexey Yarosh told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“We have begun the semi knocked down assembly of a new bus model for intercity transportation,” Yarosh said. “Its class will be higher compared with present-day models, more comfortable and customised for long trips.”

The bus will have extra luggage compartments including hand luggage racks and comfortable soft seats. Also, it will have a more powerful and economic diesel engine.

The Donetsk People’s Republic already has an experience in the domestic production of transport vehicles. On August 21, it presented the first domestically manufactured tram. The presentation of the DPR-manufactured bus “Donbass” took place last summer.

The Donetsk Electrical Engineering Plant was founded in 1945. It specialises in the production, deliveries, repairs and maintenance of machinery and equipment for mining and construction companies such as transformer substations, automatic circuit breakers, starters and power sources. In 2014-2015, the plant’s main shops and the transformer substation were damaged in shelling by Ukrainian forces but later they were mostly restored. The company currently employs about 150 people.*jk
