Donetsk, Mar 15 – DAN. DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko has proposed to introduce the "Easter ceasefire" on the eve of the great Christian holiday.
"On March 5 the "spring ceasefire" came into force and turned out to be one of the most successful. It is generally observed, there are hopes it will become indefinite. I suggest the "Easter ceasefire" should be announced on the eve of a great holiday of all Christians, on Good Friday, April 1.
Zakharchenko tasked DPR envoy to the negotiations Denis Pushilin with drawing basic parameters of the ceasefire next week at the videoconference.
"I call on all sides of the talks to support my proposal, to make another step towards peace in Donbass," Zakharchenko's statement reads.
The Contact Group earlier brokered a ceasefire in Donbass in effect from midnight March 5. The DPR said it is fully committed to the agreement and silenced guns. *ot
