Ukrainian soldier defects to DPR, Republican Command says

Donetsk, Aug 1 – DAN. A Ukrainian soldier has defected to the DPR, said the head of the DPR Armed Forces press service Daniil Bezsonov.

"We confirm that Sergey T., serviceman of a Ukrainian army frontline unit, defected to the DPR."
The soldier contacted DPR forces using radio communication.

According to Bezsonov, Donbass-born Sergey decided to leave the Ukrainian army due to "threats coming from his pro-nationalistic fellow soldiers".

"He has been taken to DPR investigative authorities and is now testifying."

This is not the first time when Ukrainian soldiers defect to the Republic. In April, a Georgian mercenary abandoned his unit and surrendered to the DPR forces.*ot
