Donetsk, May 22 - DAN. Ukrainian army units violated the ceasefire 29 times over the past 24 hours firing nearly 600 rounds of ammunition at the Donetsk People’s Republic frontline areas, head of the DPR Mission to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination Ruslan Yakubov said on Tuesday.
“Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire 29 times expending 569 rounds of ammunition,” Yakubov said.
According to the JCCC, Ukrainian forces delivered massive fire on the Gorlovka direction targeting the villages of Zheleznaya Balka, Golmovskiy, Dolomitnoye, Mikhhailovka, Vasilyevka and Shirokaya Balka, the Gagarin Colliery settlement and the Mayorsk crossing point in northern Gorlovka. Strikes at southern DPR areas were recorded as well.
According to JCCC’s updated reports, five houses in Gorlovka sustained shelling damage. The state-owned concern Donbassgaz press service said that a gas pipe was damaged by Ukrainian forces fire in Karnavalnaya Street in western Donetsk’s Trudovskiye neighbourhood. Repairs are underway.
Tensions have heightened on the Donbass frontline over the past week. Gorlovka remains one of the worst trouble spots in the region with strikes recorded even in daytime. Four people were killed and another 11 were wounded in the area in the period from May 13 till May 21.*jk
