Donetsk, Oct 21 – DAN. Ukrainian forces have violated the ceasefire more than 3,100 times over the past week, shelling frontline areas of the Donbass People’s Republic, a DPR defence official said.
“Ukrainian forces have broken the ceasefire 3,161 times over the past week, employing artillery, tanks and mortars to shell the Republic in 2,477 cases,” DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin told a news briefing at the Donetsk News Agency on Friday.
Thirty-five DPR settlements came under Ukrainian army’s fire, with the heaviest shelling and enemy provocations recorded in southern DPR, in the vicinity of villages Sakhanka, Leninskoye and Bezymennoye.
“We’re calling upon the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine to follow up on each fact and make an impartial assessment of criminal actions done by Ukrainian forces,” the DPR Command representative underlined.
The Ukrainian army has intensified the shelling of DPR territory in the past ten days making several attempts to break through DPR defence line in the south. Employing heavy artillery, mortars, tanks and small arms, Ukrainian forces tried to penetrate near Kominternovo and Leninskoye villages. DPR repelled all the attacks, killing some 40 Ukrainian militants and wounding some 100.
