Donetsk, Mar 18 - DAN. Ukrainian forces fired grenade launchers at the Petrovskoye-Bogdanovka security zone south of Doentsk, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported on Thursday.

Fire was delivered  from the Bogdanovka village area at 10:05. Ukrainian forces fired six grenade launcher rounds at Petrovskoye and also used small arms, the JCCC said.

The framework agreement on disengagement of forces in Donbass was signed in late September 2016. The objective was to disengage the warring sides avoiding the risk of clashes and shelling.  The document set three pilot security areas: Petrovskoye in the DPR (official name is Petrovskoye-Bogdanovka disengagement zone No 3) and Stanitsa Luganskaya and Zolotoye in the LPR.

The Petrovskoye village is located on the contact line some 40 kilometres south of Donetsk. The conflicting parties disengaged back in October 2016, but later on, Ukrainian troops returned to their positions. The new attempt to disengage forces and hardware was made in November 2019; however, Ukrainian troops continued their activity in the Petrovskoye area.*jk
