Donetsk, Aug 29 - DAN. Ukrainian forces violated the ceasefire 33 times over the past 24 hours firing 173 artillery and mortar rounds at DPR territory, the Republic’s Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.

“Ukraine continued to openly show its unwillingness to observe the agreed truce in connection with the beginning of the new school year,” Basurin said. “Thirty-three ceasefire violations by Ukrainian army units were recorded over the past 24 hours.”

The enemy fired two tank gun rounds, 46 120mm mortar rounds and 110 82mm mortar rounds on Donetsk axis. On Mariupol axis, the enemy fired 15 mortar rounds and used grenade launchers and small arms.

Massive strikes were delivered at Donetsk’s northern suburbs and city agglomeration including Spartak village and Yasinovataya outskirts.

A new truce came into effect from 25 August midnight. It was agreed by Contact Group participants in Minsk ahead of the new school year, and was dubbed ‘school ceasefire.' However, full-fledged ceasefire never began at night, though tensions on the contact line eased in the first hours.*jk
