Donetsk, Aug 16 – DAN. Ukrainian armed forces attempted to break through DPR defense positions in the south of the Republic, losing six soldiers, the DPR Command said.
"At 9 p.m. and 9.10 p.m. the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance squad up to 10 personnel attempted to advance into the 'grey zone'. One of the groups walked on a mine field and revealed itself. The DPR forces made the squad retreat by opening small arms fire. The enemy sustained loses of six personnel and retreated supported by automatic grenade launchers and mortars fire from the positions of the 59th separate motorized brigade of the Ukrainian army".
The Command representative added that Ukrainian forces advanced simultaneously on two axes outside Kominternovo.
Earlier DPR Operations Command said that Ukrainian forces opened fire on southern Republican areas the previous evening, namely Sakhanka, Kominternovo, Oktyabr, Leninskoye, Zaitchenko. *ot
