Donetsk, Mar 23 - DAN. Two Donetsk People’s Republic militiamen were killed as Ukrainian forces fired at the Donetsk airport area, the DPR People’s Militia reported on Tuesday.

“Ukrainian armed formations delivered mortar fire at the Volvo centre area in the northern outskirts of Donetsk on Monday evening,” the report said. “We regret to inform that two defenders of our Republic were killed as a result of Ukrainian aggression. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of the killed militiamen.”

People’s Militia units had to return fire with weapons not banned by the Minsk accords, in order to supress enemy activity, in connection with the threat to the lives of civilians. The information on enemy casualties was not immediately available.

On Monday, a resident of Alexandrovka in the western outskirts of Donetsk was killed in Ukrainian sniper fire.
