Donetsk, Feb 27 - DAN. At least three Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in an explosion in a friendly minefield in Kiev-controlled Peski settlement north of Donetsk, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.

“On Monday, a reconnaissance convoy that included officers of the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” headquarters and 56th separate motorised infantry brigade drove into a minefield of 57th separate motorised infantry brigade outside Peski settlement,” Basurin said. “At least three servicemen were killed in the explosion, and several others were wounded,” he said.

The blast destroyed one unit of Ukrainian military equipment. No precise non-fatal casualty figure is available.

Earlier, DPR intelligence reported reckless mining operations by Ukrainian forces of areas both in the vicinity of their positions and far outside. The mined areas are not designated on minefield maps which often results in military and civilian deaths.*jk
