Donetsk, May 18 – DAN. The commander of the Pyatnashka International Brigade Oleg Mamiev has died defending the DPR, said the DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin.
"Unfortunately, the legendary commander of the Pyatnashka battalion Oleg 'Mamai' Mamiev has died defending the Republic," he said.
Basurin said that another DPR defender had died, another one had been injured yesterday while on duty at the frontline.
Mamiev took part in military action in South Ossetia. He came to Donbass after the coup in Kiev and participated in numerous military operations, was member of the Vostok unit. He headed the Pyatnashka International Brigade serving at one of the hotspots on the contact line outside Donetsk soon after he joined it. Mamiev has been awarded DPR highest military awards, including the Order of the Republic. *ot*pp
