Donetsk, Jan 2 - DAN. Ukrainian army units keep violating the ‘New Year ceasefire’ in Donbass due to poor discipline and discontent among servicemen, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.
“We continue to record the lowering of discipline and higher discontent among frontline Ukrainian army units with their commanders’ actions,” Basurin said. “These are two factors behind the continuing violations of the ‘New Year ceasefire.’”
As an example, he referred to the 30 December shelling of Trudovskiye neighbourhood with incendiary rounds in which an apartment in a multi-storey building was set on fire. A probe found out that fire had been opened by servicemen S.Gulyak and S.Ivanov assigned to 3rd company, 1st battalion of Ukrainian army 30th separate mechanised brigade, who had been in a state of alcoholic intoxication.
Earlier reports said Ukrainian forces violated the ceasefire three times over the past 24 hours. A DPR militiaman was wounded in the shelling. *jk
