Donetsk, Jan 31 – DAN. Ukrainian forces shelled DPR territory 2,411 times over the past 24 hours. The frontline situation continues to deteriorate, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said.

The situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic continues to deteriorate. Criminal Ukrainian forces shelled DPR territory 2,411 times over the past 24 hours, firing 128 artillery rounds, including 47 152mm rounds, five BM-21 Grad loads, four tank gun rounds, 829 mortar rounds, including 397 120mm rounds, and 1,205 grenade launcher rounds; infantry fighting vehicle cannons and small arms were also used,” Basurin said.

Ukrainian forces employed all the weapons banned under the Minsk agreements concentrating fire on Gorlovka and Yasinovataya axes. Donetsk and Makeyevka outskirts and villages in DPR south were also targeted.

Damage to housing was recorded in Donetsk, Makeyevka and DPR south. In Kiev-controlled Berestki village (21 km from the contact line, Donetsk axis), DPR intelligence revealed the location of three stand-by MLRS Uragan.

Three civilians were injured by Ukrainian forces shelling on Monday evening, according to Basurin. On Tuesday, Donetsk’s Kievskiy district administration head Valentin Levchenko said a 51-year-old woman was killed by shelling which occurred at 11:45 a.m.

The situation along the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic has deteriorated dramatically in the past few days. Kiev intensified shelling of DPR territory causing increased damage and civilian casualties, DPR Operations Command said. The enemy has attempted to take DPR militia positions several times in the past few days.*jk
