Donetsk, Oct 27 – DAN. Kiev forces shelled DPR check point Mayorsk on the contact line outside Gorlovka (opposite Ukrainian check point Mayorskoye), the Republic's Defense Ministry told DAN.
"Today at around 10 a.m. Kiev forces opened fire on the check point Mayorsk north of Gorlovka with what is assessed to be mortars," the statement reads, "Check point suspended its work."
Civilians were present on the checkpoint when shelling occurred. According to the preliminary information there were no casualties.
Earlier in the day State Border Guard Service of Ukraine press secretary Oleg Slobodyan said that Mayorskoye checkpoint (known earlier as Zaitsevo) was closed due to the shelling. DPR Defense Ministry denied any involvement.
Only four crossing points between Ukraine and DPR are currently open. Pedestrians and vehicles can cross the contact line through Elenovka-Novotroitskoye checkpoint (south-west of Donetsk), Mayorsk-Mayorskoye (outside Gorlovka), Oktyabr-Gnutovo (DPR south), Aleksandrovka-Mar'yinka (west of Donetsk).
