Donetsk, Sep 16 - DAN. Ukrainian armed formations fired 120mm mortars at the Yelenovka settlement and Vesyoloye village areas in Donetsk suburbs on Thursday morning, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination reported.
The strikes were delivered at 6:42 and 6:50 from the Kiev-controlled settlements of Taramchuk and Peski, respectively. Twelve 120mm mortar rounds were fired at Yelenovka, and six at Vesyoloye. No casualties or damage reports were immediately available.
“Ukrainian representatives in the JCCC ignore the request to use the coordination mechanism for establishing a ceasefire,” the DPR Office said.
Yelenovka accommodates a functioning crossing point which links the DPR with Ukraine-controlled areas. A humanitarian corridor via Yelenovka was launched in the summer of 2020. It operates on Mondays and Fridays.
The package of tighter ceasefire control measures has been in effect in Donbass since July 27, 2020. Ukraine regularly violates provisions of the document which bans the use of any weapon, special operations, engineer works and unmanned aerial vehicle flights.*jk
