Donetsk, Jul 2 - DAN. A group of journalists came under Ukrainian forces mortar fire in the western outskirts of Donetsk, the Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“Today, journalists from the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) and the DPR People’s Militia press service came under mortar fire in the Alexandrovka neighbourhood in Donetsk’s Petrovskiy district, the DPR militia said.

There were no casualties, it added. VGTRK correspondent Andrey Rudenko told DAN that Ukrainian forces opened fire at the area at around 14:20.

“Three cameramen, including my VGTRK colleague, were at the scene to take footage of the damage from strikes at the residential area delivered by Ukrainian forces at night and on Tuesday morning,” Rudenko said. “Ukrainian forces opened fire and my colleagues had to hide in a shelter.”

It is the second incident over the recent time in which journalists came under fire. On June 27, Ukrainian forces shelled Alexandrovka as the place was visited by media representatives, including journalists from Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency.*jk
