Donetsk, Jun 2 - DAN. Kiev forces fired a mortar at a Donetsk People’s Republic area next to the Petrovskoye-Bogdanovka security zone on Tuesday, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination reported.

The incident occurred at 13:50, Donetsk time (coincides with Moscow time.) Fire was delivered from the Bogdanovka village (controlled by the Ukrainian army) towards the DPR’s Petrovskoye village. An 82mm mortar round was fired, the JCCC said.

Petrovskoye is located next to the contact line some 40 kilometres south of Donetsk. According to the Contact Group’s decision it is one of three pilot disengagement areas in Donbass where the presence of hardware and manpower is prohibited.

The conflicting parties disengaged their forces for the first time in October 2016, but later on, Kiev troops returned to their positions. In November 2019, disengagement was carried out again, yet Ukraine continued its military activities in the Petrovskoye area and security zone.*jk
