Donetsk, Sep 14 - DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre fore Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported new engineer works at Ukrainian armed formations’ positions near the Shumy settlement outside Gorlovka.
“At 15:40, engineer works were recorded again, namely the clearing of connecting trenches at Ukrainian armed formations’ positions next to Shumy,” the report said.
New engineer works in Shumy were reported on September 12 as well.
On September 10, Donetsk said that Kiev had derailed the Shumy joint inspection with the DPR and the OSCE, whose objective was to see the real situation regarding Ukrainian army’s engineer works in the district. Donetsk repeatedly said that Ukrainian forces had constructed fortifications outside Gorlovka in violation of the additional ceasefire control measures, and that they advanced them to the arc of the Severskiy Donets - Donbass water duct, a key water supply line in the region, planning to gain a foothold there. In this connection, the Contact Group decided its extraordinary videoconference on September 9 to carry out a joint inspection. Ukraine’s refusal had forced Donetsk to take unilateral action. The DPR repeatedly stated that its People’s Militia could carry out an operation to destroy the fortifications, but decided to drop these plans after an accord on joint inspection had been reached.
The package of tighter ceasefire control measures came into force in Donbass on July 27, 2020. The document bans the use of any weapons, deployment of hardware, special operations, engineer works and flights of unmanned aerial vehicles.*jk
