Donetsk, Mar 4 - DAN. Kiev forces used a Grad-P rocket system to deliver a strike at the northern suburbs of Donetsk on Thursday morning, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported.

Earlier reports said that an apartment building in the Donetsk-Severny railway station area was damaged in shelling. The strike was delivered from Ukrainian forces positions in the Opytnoye village area in the morning.

“In updated reports, DPR officers at the JCCC said that the damage had been caused by the explosion of ordnance fired from Ukrainian armed formations’ positions in the Opytnoye settlement area. The enemy employed a 9-P-132 Grad-P (Partizan) rocket system,” the JCCC said.

Grad-P is a light portable rocket system of the 1960s. It was designed to supress enemy manpower, firing equipment and hardware in the terrain that hampers the movement of ordinary artillery systems.  It was used in the Vietnam war, Ethiopia-Somalia conflicts, Yemen and Donbass.*jk
