Donetsk, Feb 8 - DAN. Four Donetsk People’s Republic militiamen were killed as Kiev forces shelled the Leninskoye village in the south of the Republic, DPR People’s Militia deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Friday.
“Four DPR defenders died in the Leninskoye area,” Basurin said.
Fire was delivered from positions of the Ukrainian army’s 79th Air Assault Brigade in the Vodyanoye area, he added. A house in Leninskoye caught fire during the shelling and militiamen came to the scene to put it out.
“Our fighters were helping the civilians; the enemy was surely watching through binoculars, but the gunmen didn’t stop at that,” the deputy commander said.
“79th Brigade gunmen, using an unmanned aerial vehicle to adjust fire, delivered an aimed strike at the area killing three militiamen during the firefighting effort. Their colleague who was trying to retrieve the bodies, was also killed in a mortar round explosion,” Basurin said.
He conveyed his condolences to the families of the dead militiamen.*jk
