Donetsk, Jul 11 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic prosecutors opened criminal proceedings against the Ukrainian army’s 30th Separate Mechanised Brigade commander Ivan Garaz complicit in the Gorlovka shelling earlier on Thursday in which a civilian was killed, the DPR Prosecutor General’s Office press service reported.

“The PGO Investigation Department filed a criminal case against the Ukrainian army’s 30th Separate Mechanised Brigade commander Ivan Garaz and his subordinates under DPR Criminal Code article 229, Part 3 (act of terror resulting in deliberate killing of person),” the report said.

On Thursday morning, Ukrainian servicemen, at Garaz’s order, fired 120mm mortars at the Golmovskiy neighbourhood in the Nikitskiy district of the town of Gorlovka, the PGO added. A 70-year-old woman who was at her apartment at the time, received a fatal shrapnel wound to the chest.

A civilian fatality during Gorlovka shelling by Ukrainian armed forces was reported earlier on Thursday.*jk
