Donetsk, Jul 27 - DAN. Ukrainian forces were most active on the contact line with the Donetsk People’s Republic in January and April during the period of operation of the Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire, the DPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported on Tuesday.

The “Additional Measures” came into effect on July 27, 2020. The document bans the use of weapons, deployment of hardware, special operations, engineer works, use of unmanned aerial vehicles etc. Over the designated period, Ukrainian forces fired at DPR areas 1,083 times expending more than 7,800 rounds of ammunition.

Strikes peaked in the beginning of this year and in mid-spring. Kiev army units fired 164 rounds at the DPR in January and 151 in April. The largest number of strikes was recorded on the Donetsk axis (464).

Earlier on Tuesday, head of the DPR Office at the JCCC Maj-Gen Ruslan Yakubov said that only the launching of the coordination mechanism (another condition required by  the “Additional Measures” which Ukraine never met) can make Kiev answer for the strikes.*jk
