Donetsk, Apr 12 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic militiamen have killed 68 Ukrainian gunmen over the past 24 hours, DPR People’s Militia deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.
“Over the past 24 hours, our servicemen have killed 68 Ukrainian nationalists and destroyed two tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, four armored vehicles, two trucks and two fire positions of 120mm mortar squads,” Basurin said. “Two armored vehicles and one tank have been captured.”
Twenty-seven servicemen of the Ukrainian army’s 56th, 54th and 25th Brigades laid down their arms and surrendered to DPR forces, he added.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation aimed at demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On the same day, the DPR and LPR militias supported by Russian forces began to liberate the occupied areas of Donbass. As of now, 160 settlements have been liberated in the DPR. *jk
