Donetsk, Oct 17 – DAN. Col. Arsen Pavlov (code name Motorola), Hero of DPR, was killed in Donetsk on Sunday, said the Republic's People's Council chairman Denis Pushilin.
"Arsen Pavlov was killed, it is a great loss for all of us," he said. "According to preliminary information it was an act of terror carried out by Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group."
Pushilin stressed that the fallen hero had been fighting alongside militiamen since the war in Donbass broke out, took part in key military operations and has become a symbol of the struggle against Kiev offensive.
"Kiev still pursues military solution to the conflict but is incapable to win and resorts to terrorist methods," he added. "Ukrainian side hopes to erode the situation in the Republic with this murder."
According to the latest reports, Arsen Pavlov was killed in the blast of an explosive device planted in the hallway of the block of flats where he lived. The investigation into the circumstances is ongoing. Security measures in Donetsk are tightened.
