Donetsk, Apr 15 – DAN. Donetsk began to work out the lists of Republican servicemen who have been captured by Ukraine, the DPR Ombudswoman Daria Morozova said.

“We would like to exchange prisoners of war with Ukraine and return our guys home. We are currently working out lists, we are approached by relatives and commanders of our guys who are in captivity. We understand how many (prisoners of war) on the territory of Ukraine we are talking about. However, so far Ukraine has not contacted us,” she said.

Earlier, Morozova reported that the living conditions of Ukrainian captives in DPR penitentiary institutions meet all the international standards.

Since the beginning of the special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, Ukrainian media and social networks have been circulating videos of interrogations, torture, and executions of servicemen of the People’s Militia by armed formations of Ukraine and the country’s special services. In turn, in Donbass, recently large numbers of Ukrainian military began laying down their arms. On April 12, 1,026 Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th brigade surrendered in Mariupol, among them 162 active Ukrainian officers and 47 female service members.

The last prisoner exchange between the Donetsk People's Republic and Ukraine took place in April 2020. Back then, the DPR returned nine people to Kiev, receiving 10. After that, due to the unwillingness of the Ukrainian side to carry out legal clearing of previously released persons, the swaps were frozen. *ot
