Donetsk, Aug 16 — DAN. Ukrainian armed formations have fired about 250 rounds of ammunition at Donetsk People’s Republic settlements on Tuesday.

Military situation

Ukrainian forces fired at the Leninsky, Kievsky, Kuibyshevsky, Kirovsky and Petrovsky districts of the Donetsk People’s Republic capital, Makeyevka’s Chervonogvardeisky district, Yasinovataya and Vladimirovka on the Donetsk axis and Shakta Glubokaya, Shakhta Izotova, Shakhta Gagarina and Zaitsevo on the Gorlovka axis. The enemy used 155mm, 152mm and 122mm artillery and 120mm and 82mm mortars.

Two women were wounded and three houses were damaged in Donetsk’s Petrovsky district. In the Kirovsky district, a man was wounded in shelling and another man was wounded in an “Lepestok” anti personnel mine explosion; several cars were damaged. In the Kievsky district, a bus caught fire as the water utility premises came under fire; damage was also caused to an administrative building and a house. A Emergencies Ministry vehicle came under fire in the district. In the Kuibyshevsky district, damage was caused to a school and six houses. A woman was wounded in the Vesyoloye village north of Donetsk.

In Makeyevka, a woman was killed in a strike by US-supplied artillery, and another two civilians were wounded in Yasinovataya and Vladimirovka, a village outside Volnovakha. Three civilians were wounded in Gorlovka when a projectile hit a house and a coal company building, a school and four houses were damaged.

More than 50 anti-tank mines of French production were found on abandoned Ukrainian positions in the outskirts of Artyomovsk. The mines were scattered by retreating Kiev gunmen. More than 50 Ukrainian gunmen were killed in Artyomovsk in a strike at positions of 72nd Motorized Infantry Brigade. The Russian army also silenced enemy artillery in six areas of Donbass.

The Ministry of Education and Science has announced that the new schoolyear would traditionally begin on September 1. It also published the yearly schedule of school holidays and end of schoolyear dates.

The DPR Emergency Ministry has passed nearly 50,000 food, hygiene and children’s kits to residents of the liberated Krasny Liman district in less than three months. A food kit contains flour, groats, macaroni, condensed milk, canned food, sunflower oil, sugar and water. A child food kit contains meat, vegetable and fruit mash, milk porridge and juice. The hygiene kit contains shampoo, detergent, toothpaste etc.
