Donetsk, Nov 27 - DAN. The introduction of martial law in a number of Ukrainian regions might mount tensions in Donbass, Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia spokesman Daniil Bezsonov told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
“The martial law in a number of Ukrainian regions might seriously impact the level of tensions in Donbass,” Bezsonov said. “At present, People’s Militia controls the frontline situation but we should not forget about Kiev’s opportunities to resort to dirty warfare methods.”
On Monday, the DPR said that Kiev had deployed reinforcement along the contract line. In this connection, Bezsonov made it clear that the DPR militia was ready to supress any Ukrainian servicemen attentions to launch hostilities in the region.
The Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council suggested that martial law be imposed because of the Kerch Strait situation. In the evening of November 26, Ukraine’s Verkhovnaya Rada (parliament) reviewed and approved this bill. Under the document, Ukraine imposes martial law in ten regions for 30 days starting 10:00 a.m. on November 28.
Martial law is imposed across Ukraine or some of its areas in accordance with the law “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law” to provide military authorities and leadership with unlimited power.*jk
