Donetsk, Oct 29 - DAN. A Donetsk People’s Republic militiaman was killed in a Ukrainian bomb-dropping drone attack, the Donetsk People’s Republic People’ Militia press service reported on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian armed formations in the Naberezhnoye settlement area in the south of the DPR used an unmanned aerial vehicle in violation of the Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire in Donbass. The UAV was sent to the district where DPR Emergencies Ministry engineers were defusing unexploded 82mm mortar rounds fired from the Ukrainian army's 53rd Brigade positions on Wednesday.
“During the flight over our positions, the Ukrainian gunmen’s attack drone was shot down by small arms fire,” the DPR militia said. “As it was falling, it dropped an explosive device on our defenders’ positions. We regret to report that our militiaman was killed in the bomb explosion.”
He is the first DPR militia victim of Ukrainian aggression since the introduction of additional ceasefire control measures in the region.
The package of tighter ceasefire control measures came into force in Donbass on July 27, 2020. The document bans the use of any weapons, deployment of hardware, special operations, engineer works and flights of unmanned aerial vehicles.*jk
