Donetsk, Dec 5 — DAN. The Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre will present a “War and Peace” production in St Petersburg jointly with colleagues from Moscow and Voronezh, Donbass Opera Director Yevgeny Denisenko said on Tuesday.
“We’re performing in the Grand Concert Hall on December 6, ” Denisenko told the Donetsk News Agency. “Two hundred people are travelling by train, including soloists and ballet staff, choir and symphony orchestra members and technicians.”
“In Petersburg, we’ll meet with colleagues from the Kremlin Ballet and Voronezh Operate and Ballet Theatre. We’re excited: it’s a very large hall with a seating capacity is over 3,500, ” he said.
DAN reported in January that Donbass Opera, together with the Kremlin Ballet were working on a “War and Peace” show based on Leo Tolstoy’s epic novel. Soviet and Russian composer Vyasheslav Ovchinnikov wrote music to the “War and Peace” ballet in 1965-1967.
Kremlin Ballet Art Director Andrey Petrov worked on ballet choreography. DAN correspondents closely monitored the making of the ballet and attended the dress rehearsal. The show debuted in Simferopol and Sevastopol in August. In September, it was presented in Moscow.*jk
