Donetsk, Jun 27 — DAN. The patriotic books for children “Zaporozhye ABC” and “Kherson ABC” have an overall print run of 60,000 copies, said Donetsk People’s Republic Public Chamber Chairman Alexander Kofman.
“The Kherson and Zaporozhye ABCs have already been printed; the Kharkov ABC is in press, ” Kofman told the Donetsk News Agency.
The print run of each book is 30,000 copies, he said adding that the layouts of the ABC books for Karelia and Chechnya were ready and that the Donbass ABC had a print run of 40,000.
The ABC of the Regions project was launched in 2020 as participants of the 2nd International Science Fiction Festival “Stars Above Donbass” donated their fees to patriotic primer developers. It is an illustrated book containing short verses whose first words begin with the appropriate letter of the alphabet.
The author of the verses is Moscow-based writer Sergey Volkov; the illustrations were created by Donetsk artist Falena Lysakova. She also created the image of fairy Donbass dweller Milasik who guides the reader through the book. Last autumn, the ABC of the Regions received a Russian Public Chamber award, and previously, the project authors won a “Stars Above Donbass” money prize.*jk
