Donetsk, Apr 25 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova believes that the arrest of DPR office head Gerald-Hubert Fayard in France was a misunderstanding.
“We’re convinced that the outrageous accusations (of Fayard - eds Donetsk News Agency) are a misunderstanding caused by the tremendous amount of misinformation about the Republics and our European friends disseminated by Ukraine,” Nikonorova told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
She reminded about repeated cases of pressure on European politicians and activists who told the truth about Donbass events. She also underlined that all the DPR offices abroad were legal.
"The Aix-en-Provence town court has upheld the legitimacy of Mr Fayard’s activity as head of the DPR office in Marseille, although Ukrainian diplomatic missions in France tried to put pressure on the court,” Nikonorova said.
She expressed confidence that after a thorough investigation Fayard would be set free and that his good name would be rehabilitated.
Head of the DPR office in Marseille Hubert Fayard was reportedly arrested on April 10, 2019. The politician was put into custody in an Aix-en-Provence commune.
The DPR office in Marseille was opened in September 2017.*jk
