Donetsk, Mar 6 — DAN. Serbian volunteers who are fighting for Russia might obtain Russian citizenship, Zaporozhye region Acting Governor Yevgeny Balitsky told Krym 24 channel on Monday.
“We’ll gladly let the guys serving with us stay here; there’s no need for them to return to Serbia, ” TASS quoted Balitsky as saying. “If they wish to apply I believe we’ll be able to deal with the matter and issue Russian passports to them. Let them live here — they’ve paid for this land with their blood.”
“I believe it’s fair, ” he added.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic earlier said that Serbian citizens would be severely punished for participation in armed conflicts in Ukraine and other countries.*jk
