Donetsk, Nov 16 – DAN. Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE SMM Mark Etherington has arrived in Donetsk with his first work visit, the Donetsk SMM office told DAN.
" Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE SMM Mark Etherington is currently in Donetsk with a work visit. He arrived the previous day."
This is the first visit of Etherington to Donetsk in his new capacity.
No other details are available at the moment.
Alexander Hug, the former OSCE SMM principal deputy chief monitor, stepped down on October 31, after having spent the maximum term of ten years in the OSCE.
Etherington is a former British paratrooper. In 1992-1995 he worked at the European Union observer mission in Yugoslavia. Etherington was also involved in settling conflicts in Afghanistan and South Sudan. He has been an OSCE SMM member in Ukraine since 2014.*ot
