Donetsk, Feb 20 - DAN. The treatment of Ukrainian servicemen in Germany made it a party to the Donbass conflict, Andreas Maurer, head of Die Linke faction in Osnabruck District who leads People’s Diplomacy project, told a news conference at Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“We placed an enquiry with Bundestag (parliament) and received an answer from Mrs Merkel (German Chancellor Angela Merkel - eds DAN) on the number of the Ukrainian soldiers our government took to Germany for treatment,” Maurer said. “According to the official answer, 73 Ukrainian soldiers were transported to Germany and received medical treatment.”

“Consequently, it made Germany directly involved in Donbass events. This automatically makes us a party to this conflict, this situation,” the politician said.

During the news conference, Andreas Maurer passed to acting DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova the official correspondence between German politicians and public figures and German authorities.

Russian, German and Norwegian public activists and politicians arrived in the Donetsk People’s Republic on 18 February. On 19 February, they met with DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko, laid flowers at the Memorial to Ukrainian aggression victims, visited a school, a hospital and shelled sites.*jk
